Playball is an interactive installation we created for LLUM festival 2018 in Barcelona. It consisted of 64 spheres in close proximity to each other that when hit would light up in a chain effect. The simplicity of the interaction was very inviting for the people who intuitively knew what to do with it.

Under the hood of the installation you will find the ESP8266 module that has embedded wifi communication. Each ball has its own IP address and can be controlled wirelessly. We created a web interface running on a Node server to change the colours of the spheres and to make animations.
